The weather warning system

The Government weather warnings can be found on the Hong Kong Observatory http://www.hko.gov.hk/contente.htm (HKO) Website and HKO smartphone/tablet Apps http://www.hko.gov.hk/myobservatory_e.htm

Communication Channel

The Director of Hockey will be the responsible person and communication will be via Junior Chair/Captains/Coaches via Whatsapp.  In case of absences, Director of Hockey/Junior Chair/captains/coaches to appoint their own delegates.


Suspension of Training/Matches

Adult matches:  The Convenor of the home team will notify HKHAMS/HKHAWS, as appropriate, by telephone or e-mail on the day following that on which League matches have been postponed or abandoned due to inclement weather.  The Committee will re-arrange the playing of these postponed or abandoned League matches at the earliest opportunity (from the HKHA Bye-Laws)

If training or matches are affected or suspended by a weather warning, a communication will go out to the responsible person who is DoH to Junior Chair/Captains/Coaches via Whatsapp who will in turn communicate to their teams.

Advice to Parents

If you are in doubt over the safety of your child in sending them to training or matches, then keep them at home and advise the Junior Chair/Captain/Coach via Whatsapp .

Dos & Don'ts for Arranging Physical Activities

During the Health Risk Category at High, Very High and Serious Levels

(Applicable to children under 18 years of age)

The tolerability to different levels of intensity of physical/sports activity varies among people. In general, it depends on health condition, previous exercise experience and level of physical fitness of individuals.  Captains/Coaches should pay special attention to children with pre-existing heart, respiratory or chronic illnesses and follow the medical advice, if any, for activities arrangement.  Captains/Coaches are advised to exercise their professional judgement for appropriate arrangement and adjustment where necessary.
